A face and neck thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure aimed to restore and rejuvenate the face and neck – without the downtime, permanency or cost of a surgical facelift.
The procedure is performed by making a small insertion point near the ear, where absorbable biocompatible sutures called polydioxanone (PDO) are placed under the skin along the line that requires restoration. Tiny barbs in the threads effectively hold the underlying tissue.
The benefits of a contour face and neck thread lift are two-fold. Firstly, the threads create initial structural support for contouring and lifting. Secondly, it generates ongoing collagen and elastin formation to maintain this support for up to 18 months.

How a face and neck thread lift works
A face and neck thread lift is a single treatment that performs two actions.
- Lifting action: Creates an instant yet discreet uplift effect in your areas of concern.
- Regenerating action: Promotes new collagen and elastin stimulation, helping with overall skin tightening and ongoing improvement.
The procedure is performed using medical-grade threads of polydioxanone (PDO). These threads have bi-directional and helically positioned barbs that anchor to lax tissue that has begun to sag through the ageing process.
Once the threads are inserted, they are lifted to reposition the jawline, cheeks, nasolabial folds, eyebrows or neck for an immediate rejuvenated effect. Once the body senses polydioxanone (PDO), it will begin to produce collagen around the threads, thereby helping to restore natural volume and tighten skin.

This is a minimally invasive procedure performed using local anesthetic for your comfort. Threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin via a single insertion point and then lifted upwards to restore and contour your features.
A Registered Cosmetic Nurse and Dr Guy Kinsella perform your initial consultation. We use this time to address your areas of concern and determine the number of threads required for optimal results.
Your treatment takes around 45 minutes, however please allow yourself up to an hour in our clinic.
Swelling is the most significant effect after a contour face and neck thread lift. Other side effects may include bruising and dimpling of the tissue, which will subside over time. Pain after the procedure varies – some people experience minimal pain, while others feel a little more discomfort. Pain management is discussed at time of treatment.
Downtime following treatment is generally minimal. We do ask that you refrain from strenuous exercise for 10 days after treatment (walking is okay). We wish to minimise any post-treatment complications and therefore a detailed post treatment guideline is supplied for you.
This procedure creates an immediate result that can last up to 18 months. An instant rejuvenated appearance, as well as an improvement in skin texture and fine lines will be evident. The added advantages of a face and neck thread lift is collagen and elastin stimulation, which provides a natural ongoing skin tightening effect.
Please be aware that a contour face and neck thread lift will not create the same results as a surgical facelift, however it is an effective anti-ageing treatment if you prefer a natural look and a minimally invasive procedure with little to no downtime.
